Hello September 🍁🍂

Hot cups of coffee on foggy, cold mornings.

The first hints of color in a sea of green tree branches.

Peepers singing through the night breeze.

A cool mid-day wind.

These are a few of the welcome signs that the first of September brings into our little state of Maine.

The golden archway in our yard 🍁

I must confess to being one of those people who does believe that fall starts on September first, and any indication otherwise becomes reason for a full on hissy fit.

Seeing temperatures above 75 in the coming weeks brings my own wave of hell-mimicking fury.

Talks of barbecues or beach trips make my skin crawl.

I admit whole heartedly to being a diva in the highest regard when it comes to protecting my fall traditions.

Things that I love, and am not sorry for:

🎃 Homemade pumpkin spice lattes

🎃 Collecting more leafs than I’ll ever actually press

🎃 Buying pumpkins to put on the front steps (that I’ll spend all season chasing my kids around to put them back 😂)

🎃 Baking everything on the weekends

🎃 Oversized scarfs & cute boots

My favorite days are coming up and this year is even more exciting for me. We have an amazing harvest from our garden to can and put up for the winter.

This was the first summer with a real harvest. It feels incredible to have a beautiful garden full of veggies that get to be prepared for winter. There is something truly beautiful about having grown food; more to share on another blog about this 🪴

The beauty of the fall starts now. A chilly night, warm foods on the stove, cozy days with either stunning sunshine or comforting rainstorms.

Welcome in, September. I cannot wait to experience, explore, and admire the wonder that is this start of the fall. ❤️
